Theo Browne

Software developer and creator of the T3 Stack, building AI chat and agent-development tools and arguing that AI expands what individual developers can attempt.

Theo Browne, known online as t3dotgg and @theo, is a software developer, YouTuber, and founder of T3 Chat. His AI work includes the chat application and T3 Code, an interface for controlling coding agents. Y Combinator lists Browne and Mark Florkowski as active founders of the business.[2][3][4]

At the 2026 AI Engineer World’s Fair closing keynotes, Browne showcased software projects he had built or was building with AI. He argued that AI had expanded the scale of work an individual developer could realistically attempt: “What used to be a startup is now a side project,” he said, according to Richard MacManus’s July 3 dispatch. Projects he would previously have considered too large were, in his view, becoming feasible.[1]

Concentrating on AI tools

In a June 3, 2026 interview, Browne described himself as CEO of T3 Tools and said he was concentrating on his YouTube channel, T3 Chat, and T3 Code. The team continued maintaining Ping.gg, UploadThing, and PicThing, but gave them less attention because they already served its needs. He reported that T3 Chat had achieved seven-digit annual recurring revenue in 2025, while T3 Code had attracted more than 60,000 users within a few months and was open source and unmonetized.[6]

T3 Code, part of Browne’s AI-tool work, gives developers mobile, web, and Electron desktop interfaces for controlling coding agents on their own machines. The team calls it an “agent harness control surface”: it works with existing coding-agent subscriptions, including Claude Code and Codex.[2][4]

Browne’s team built T3 Code because existing agent interfaces did not meet its expectations. Its goals are performance, remote access, and openness—including giving users the ability to fork the editor if its direction stops serving them. The team describes the project as early and warns users to expect bugs.[4]

Earlier foundations: creator tools and the T3 Stack

Before this AI-product focus, Browne worked at Twitch and built tools for creators. In his Y Combinator founder biography, he recalls building tools creators needed on his own and becoming a CEO as those tools gained popularity. Florkowski is listed alongside him as a founder and CTO of Ping Labs; the business participated in YC’s Winter 2022 batch.[3][6]

Browne also created the T3 Stack, a web development stack centered on simplicity, modularity, and full-stack typesafety, with Next.js and TypeScript as its core pieces. The associated create-t3-app command-line tool was built by T3 Stack developers to generate applications with components selected for each project’s needs. Its documentation advocates using riskier technology in less risky parts of an application—for example, accepting tRPC because its functions are straightforward to replace while avoiding a bet on experimental database technology.[2][5]
