Your account and your email.

Google sign-in and the Latent Space newsletter are separate choices. You can read public articles without an account.

Signing in with Google

We use your Google account identifier, name, and email address to create and recognize your reader account. This sign-in does not request access to Gmail, Drive, or your Google password.

Account records are stored in our Cloudflare database. A secure sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. A separate short-lived cookie protects the sign-in request. Signing out ends the current session. This browser remembers an explicit sign-out until you sign in again.

The newsletter is optional

After creating an account, choose whether to subscribe. We send your email to beehiiv only when you select Finish with the newsletter checkbox checked. Unchecking it or closing that panel creates an account without a new newsletter subscription.

We record your choice, its time, and signup attribution such as campaign or referral codes. If you subscribe, beehiiv processes your email and subscription status to deliver the newsletter. Some addresses require email confirmation. Existing unsubscribe preferences are preserved; signing in again does not resubscribe you.

Email-only signup also uses beehiiv, with Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent abuse. You can unsubscribe through the link in a newsletter email. Signing out of your reader account does not unsubscribe an existing newsletter subscription.

Recommendations and membership

After newsletter signup, beehiiv can show optional newsletter recommendations using the email you provided, so you do not need to type it again. Other newsletters receive your signup only if you choose to subscribe to them. You can skip recommendations and paid membership. Paid plans and checkout are hosted by beehiiv; creating a reader account does not purchase a plan.

Questions or account deletion

Contact business@latent.space about your reader data or to request account deletion. Your account and newsletter choices remain stored until removed; sign-in sessions expire separately.
