Seek.ai
A conversational data-query startup whose enterprise data-agent expertise IBM planned to incorporate into watsonx AI Labs, as announced in June 2025.
Seek.ai developed AI tools for querying business data in natural language. On June 2, 2025, IBM announced it would acquire expertise and license technology from Seek AI, with Seek's expertise to serve as a foundational part of watsonx AI Labs in New York City.[1][5]
Earlier product history: conversational data queries in 2023
Seek announced $7.5 million in funding in its company post “Announcing Seek's $7.5m Funding”.[4]n1
Two years before IBM's announcement, Seek.ai was building a conversational engine and knowledge base, as described in Sarah Nagy's March 10, 2023 Latent Space interview introduction. Its product belonged to the text-to-SQL category: using natural-language questions to query databases rather than requiring users to write SQL.[1][3]
Enterprise data agents and IBM's 2025 announcement
By June 2, 2025, IBM described Seek AI as a New York City-based startup building AI agents to harness enterprise data.[5]
Sarah Nagy, identified as Seek AI's CEO in the announcement, described the collaboration as pairing Seek's “expertise building data agents with IBM's engineering depth” to address clients' AI challenges. She also said Seek AI was founded in New York City.[5]
