Olivia Moore
Andreessen Horowitz partner focused on AI, whose investing and writing examine AI applications and the relationship between automated execution and human judgment.
Olivia Moore is a partner at Andreessen Horowitz focused on AI. She has helped lead investments including Happyrobot, Salient, Toma, Krea, and Scribenote. Her public work includes writing about consumer AI and experimenting with autonomous agents to explore their capabilities and limits.[3][4]
Moore appeared with Justine Moore on Latent Space’s July 9, 2025 episode, “AI Video Is Eating The World”. Her a16z publication credits also include the Top 100 Gen AI Consumer Apps series and work on AI voice agents, marketplaces, and AI-native workflows.[1][3]
Autonomous execution and human judgment
In her February 25, 2026 essay “Humans Are for Ideas, AI Is for Execution”, Moore described setting up an OpenClaw agent about a week earlier. She connected it to Claude, gave it a fresh X account, and instructed it to grow the account with full autonomy. She reported that it handled posting cadence, engagement and reply tactics, adjusted to what performed well, and generated charts, images, and video.[4]
Moore found its editorial judgment less capable. Asked to produce an article with viral potential, it wrote about consciousness; its replies to Sam Altman’s posts attracted little attention. She tried stronger prompts, including prompts drafted by other AIs, but reported that it still struggled to develop a compelling identity or better strategy. Her distinction was between execution as throughput—doing a known task repeatedly—and founder-level taste and strategy. As she put it: “It can run a playbook, it just can’t write one.”[4]
According to Moore, the account began growing only after the agent asked her to share its story from her own profile; growth stopped when she stopped doing so. That experience informed her argument that audiences care about the person behind an idea as well as the output. She compared AI-assisted creation to a fashion house, where a studio executes a creative director’s ideas while the director’s taste and name remain central.[4]
Moore left open whether AI would eventually close the creativity gap. She said she did not know whether models were confined to recombining existing knowledge or could ultimately generate ideas as humans do. Her essay presented the agent’s shortcomings as her experience and assessment, while asking whether human authorship would still matter even if AI’s capabilities improved.[4]
Earlier career and education
Before her AI-focused work at a16z, Moore was an early-stage investor at CRV, investing in and partnering with companies building technology for consumers and small and medium-sized businesses. Before CRV, she worked on Goldman Sachs’s Alternative Investments and Manager Selection team. This earlier work provides context for her investing experience across consumer and business technology.[3]
Moore earned an undergraduate degree in Economics with Honors and Distinction from Stanford and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. While in college, she co-founded Cardinal Ventures, an on-campus startup incubator.[3]
