Joubin Mirzadegan
Sales and portfolio operator who cofounded Roadrunner to rebuild enterprise quoting around modern pricing and AI-assisted deal workflows.
Joubin Mirzadegan is CEO and cofounder of Roadrunner, an enterprise configure-price-quote (CPQ) company incubated at Kleiner Perkins, and a partner leading the firm’s portfolio operating team. After helping founders build sales organizations, he assembled a company to address the enterprise quoting problems those organizations faced. He also created and hosts the Grit podcast.[3][2][4]
Building Roadrunner
In his May 12, 2026 account, Kleiner Perkins partner Mamoon Hamid described Mirzadegan’s experience with CPQ friction first in sales, then through conversations with enterprise chief information officers and chief revenue officers while advising founders. Hamid credited Mirzadegan with deciding to incubate Roadrunner inside the firm’s San Francisco office and assembling its founding technical team.[4]
The team’s technical choice was to rebuild the underlying data model. Hamid summarized its diagnosis as “this isn’t a configuration problem, it’s an architecture problem.” His account placed that decision in the context of consumption pricing, multi-product bundles, and proliferating SKUs. He described Roadrunner as recommending deal configurations, enforcing pricing policies, and automating approval routing—an AI-assisted deal desk for sales representatives. Mirzadegan’s cofounders have distinct responsibilities: Ajay Natarajan is chief product officer and Eugene Shao is chief technology officer.[4][3]
Mirzadegan’s Roadrunner strategy was to rebuild the data model and co-develop with design partners facing especially complex quoting problems, according to Latent Space’s December 12, 2025 account. At that point, using large language models to recommend deal structures was an eventual goal.[1]
Before incubating Roadrunner, Mirzadegan worked in sales leadership and then portfolio operations. Those earlier roles provide context for the enterprise revenue workflows his company addresses.[2][4]
Earlier sales career and Kleiner Perkins
Mirzadegan built substantial parts of the sales teams at Evident.io, acquired by Palo Alto Networks, and Bracket Computing, acquired by VMware. According to Kleiner Perkins, he scaled Palo Alto Networks’ Cloud business from one enterprise representative and $2 million in annual recurring revenue to more than $50 million in four quarters. The reported growth concerns the Cloud business unit.[2]
He joined Kleiner Perkins in 2019, helping founders and their teams build and scale go-to-market organizations. His work included advising portfolio companies and connecting them with executives and ecosystem partners. He also worked alongside Glean and Windsurf, according to Latent Space’s December 2025 account.[2][1]
Grit and executive relationships
Mirzadegan created and hosts Grit, a podcast exploring how companies are built and scaled. He launched it with a focus on chief revenue officers to build relationships and recruit sales leaders, according to Latent Space’s December 2025 account. His interview approach includes beginning recording early and avoiding advance questions to help conversations feel natural.[2][1]
