Elad Gil
Technology entrepreneur and investor involved in AI financing, company incubation, and public discussions of how AI products create value.
Elad Gil is a technology entrepreneur and investor who runs Gil&Co, a multi-stage investment firm, and co-hosts the AI podcast No Priors with Sarah Guo. His AI work includes co-leading Harvey’s Series B and helping incubate or start Braintrust, an AI evaluation company, and Brain Co, which builds an AI platform for large institutions.[2][3][4]
AI investment and company incubation
Gil lists Anthropic, Cognition, OpenAI, Perplexity, Harvey, and other AI businesses among companies in which he invested early or led rounds. His personal website also describes a contribution beyond financing: helping incubate or start Braintrust and Brain Co.[2]
On December 19, 2023, Harvey announced that Gil and Kleiner Perkins co-led its $80 million Series B, with participation from OpenAI Startup Fund and Sequoia. The round valued Harvey at $715 million; the $80 million was the total financing, rather than Gil’s individual investment. Harvey described developing domain-specific foundation models with OpenAI for complex professional-services work and planned to use the funding to expand custom model building, its team, and product features. Gil’s role was financing the company; the model-development work belonged to Harvey and OpenAI.[4]
Product judgment and No Priors
Gil has emphasized workflows and integration as sources of product uniqueness. In a December 2025 interview, he said: “It provides you with a workflow. It hooks into and integrates with all your tooling. That’s when it’s unique.”[5]
On No Priors, Gil and Sarah Guo interview engineers, researchers, and founders about AI research, progress toward AGI, market disruption, and changes to commerce, culture, and society. Gil also participated with Guo and swyx in the No Priors–Latent Space crossover with Satya Nadella at Microsoft Build, published on June 3, 2026.[3][1]
Earlier operating career and High Growth Handbook
Before these AI investments and incubations, Gil had worked as a founder and technology-company operator. He cofounded Mixer Labs, which Twitter acquired, and Color Health, identified as Color Genomics in Y Combinator’s 2018 introduction. He was a vice president at Twitter and worked on AI and mobile at Google. These earlier roles provide the operating context for his writing about building and scaling companies.[2][3][6]
By July 2018, Gil had released High Growth Handbook, published by Stripe Press, with tactical advice for companies beyond product-market fit on executive hiring, the CEO’s role, fundraising, and acquisitions. In his Y Combinator interview, Gil recalled initially planning the material as a website. Stripe cofounder John Collison’s interest in its usefulness to founders, developers, and company builders led to Stripe publishing it.[6]
Gil deliberately included interviewees whose advice differed from his own, arguing that their different experiences supplied useful perspectives. As he put it in 2018: “Ultimately, it’s all about context.”[6]
