Brian Fioca
OpenAI Applied Evals contributor and entrepreneur whose public work includes a proposal for multi-turn agent evaluation.
Brian Fioca joined OpenAI in 2025 and worked on its Applied Evals team as of March 2026.[3]
Coding agents and evaluation
Fioca appeared alongside OpenAI colleague Bill Chen in a Latent Space episode published December 26, 2025. Their conversation covered training coding agents to communicate, plan, gather context and check their work, alongside tool-use habits and applied evaluations focused on real-world use cases.[1]
Latent Space attributed to Fioca a “job interview eval” proposal: evaluating an agent through an extended interaction.[1]
Earlier career: entrepreneurship
Before his move to OpenAI, Fioca had an entrepreneurial career. A December 11, 2015 GeekWire profile described him as a serial entrepreneur who had studied the art of the startup for ten years.[2]
Public views on Washington state
In a March 10, 2026 opinion article, Fioca expressed his commitment to remaining in Washington state through the title: “You couldn’t pay me to leave Washington state, and I’d pay more to stay.”[3]
