the issue for many, including myself, has not been one of just overall outputs / production that a "factory" could deliver (because how could you argue with smaller efforts that produce larger outcomes) but it's impact on how we feel about this change and how it might affect our work and the bigger scope of what our career looks like.

change is scary, even if the net-net is positive.

and, at least for myself as someone who enjoys working with others but also really loves working alone, i see the benefits in both scenarios and have different anxieties about both.

we should feel ok with these shifting sands after all these years but... we can't escape our emotions.
